ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP
Community Organizing
We are the ones we have been waiting for. The Reimagining Justice Fellowship is for community members who want to develop and strengthen their community organizing skills and practices. Whether it’s hosting a public forum or recruiting a base of volunteers, the fellowship is designed to support and skill up our people. Through in person trainings and biweekly webinars, fellows are given the necessary resources and tools to build power in individual communities and throughout Alabama.
Political Education
It’s okay to not have all the answers. We have inherited an unjust system that was designed to exclude and punish. Through community conferences, teach-ins and popular education gatherings the fellowship provides fellows with opportunities to best understand the current political landscape, with specific focus on prison, probation and parole policies.
Legislative Lobbying & Advocacy
Guided by the belief that our people hold the experiences that should be informing the policies that impact them, the fellowship is designed for fellows to develop legislative lobbying and advocacy skills and tools. Through in-district meetings with elected officials and statewide lobbying days, fellows will participate in the ground advocacy work.
